HOW-TO: Beat the Heat Summer Hairstyles

One of the longest battles in the history of hair styling takes place on the grounds of humidity. No matter what your shield is made of – a serum, a creme, or silicone – moisture’s defense is difficult to beat. The trick to any battle is knowing how to work within your boundaries.

Here are some of our favorite styles to help beat the heat.

KNOTTED UP

Split hair down the center. Tie two ponytails into place at your desired height on the head. Spritz a little of Bumble and bumble Surf Infusion Spray on each ponytail and then twist them into buns and bobby pin into place. When you let your hair down, you’ll have a desired style for the next day with the waves created from the twists.

BRAIDED UP

Give yourself a side part. Begin a classic french braid at your part, just above your temple/edge of the eyebrow. Continue to braid around the head, adding hair to each section as you make your way around, back to where you started. tie the end of your braid and use bobby pins and hair pins to hide under your braid. Pull a few pieces out around the ears and let humidity do the rest. We recommend Frederick Fekkai Glossing Creme for easy separation while braiding.

BUBBLED UP

Flip your head upside down and gather all of your hair with the help of your Mason Pearson brush. Flip your head back upright and secure your pony tail. Grab a small section of hair from underneath the pony, wrap around the base and pin to hide your elastic band. Use small hair elastics along the ponytail then pull across the width of each section with your fingers to widen each bubble.
