Here’s Why You Need to Start Using Hair Packets

By now, it’s pretty common for the big hair brands to sell their most popular products in TSA regulated sizes. This is especially true for the products people can’t travel without, like shampoos, conditioners, and hairsprays. But, travel-sized products, albeit cute, definitely don’t get you the most bang for your buck. AKA they are wayy more expensive and aren’t always the most convenient to travel with.  And aside from filling your own reusable packaging, using what the hotel has to offer (no bueno) or buying products upon arrival, what other options are there? Consider this: single use hair packets–your new way to travel with your favorite products.

The Idea

Technically, the idea of a packet of product has been around for awhile now. For the most part, you see hair packets used for deep conditioning treatments (hello, we’re obsessed with our Ouai treatment masque packets.) Lately, a few brands have been using hair packets as a way to stand out in the over saturated travel category. In general, packeted products are great for travel because they are designed for one time use–like say, a hair sheet mask–and are easy to rip open and use whenever you need them.

The Pros

There are a lot of reasons to reach for hair packets versus your typical mini bottles. For one, packets take up much less space, which means you’ll have more room in your suitcase. Also, since you can throw away the packet after using it, you won’t have to bring anything home with you. Another reason to love packets? They is zero chance of spilling all over your bag, which great for when you are traveling with expensive shoes and clothes.

The Products

So far, there are only a handful of brands that have taken to the packets as way to package their products. One of the best and most complete sets of packeted products is the Gloss Moderne Luxury Travel Set. For $10, the four piece set comes with a shampoo, conditioner, serum, and masque. Another similar set is this one from Iles Formula. It features a cleansing shampoo, nourishing conditioner, protecting serum and a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute the product. If you’re looking for a packet that’s a bit more innovative, try Eva NYC’s Purse-Perfect Hair Towelettes. Their pink and green neon packets contain a single use wipe meant to soothe dry, frizzy hair. If you’re on the market for a great deep conditioner, try either HASK Keratin Protein mask or Ouai’s yummy treatment masques
