What’s the most stolen product from your kit?
Everyone loves a good dry shampoo and Living Proof PhD Dry Shampoo is my favorite! After using it on clients and telling them why I love it, I never see it again.
What’s the most underrated hair hack or trick?
To not overthink an updo or pinned style. If you are going for a loose and effortless look, sometimes less is more. Just watch how the hair is wanting to move and fall before you start pinning. Let the hair tell you where to pin and what to pull up. Most of my favorite styles I have done required no plan. Just start twisting, braiding, or pinning and see what looks best. Add hair accessories to any pinned style to take it to the next level. You can’t go wrong.
What’s the most overrated hair hack or trick?
The water bottle blowdryer hack. Although it may work in theory, I don’t think it produces a great result. If you are unable to use a curling iron or do a blowout on yourself, which is tough, I know, there are better ways. Velcro rolls/hot rollers, braiding your hair before bed, or OUAI Air Dry Foam will all give you a different texture and added volume without melting a water bottle into your hair!
What’s one expensive product that’s worth every penny?
GHD Platinum Styling Iron. Investing in good tools is always a must. When using good quality tools on your clients and yourself you insure that you are protecting the hair and you will get an overall better result in your styles. The GHD Styler is perfect for everything from a sleek look to creating waves.
What’s the most underrated drugstore product?
TRESemme Hair Sprays. They have four levels of hold so you can choose which one is best for you. My favorite is Compressed Extend Hairspray Hold Level 4. It gives me enough hold for my clients without being stiff or sticky.
If you only had time to use one product on a client, what would it be?
Oribe Superfine Strong Hair Spray. Although some women don’t love a firm hair spray, I do. Oribe’s Superfine Strong has enough hold for a slicked back look, to tame flyaways, add body, or to change the texture and look of a style. I can’t live without hair spray.
