Some mornings, especially in colder weather, I can’t help but hit the snooze button (again and again and again, oops). So, on those ‘special’ days, I need easy hair styles I can do in 5 minutes or less but that still look like I made an effort. I love a good low-bun anyway for when I know I have a busy day ahead because my hair is up and out of the way so here are 3 not-so-basic low buns that you can do in 5 minutes or less. Trust me, I’ve tried them!
How-to: Begin with your hair down and dry. To create a bit of height, back-comb the hair around your face. Pull your hair into an elastic at the tape of your neck and create a loop bun. Pull some of the looped hair out and wrap it around to hide your elastic and pin it with a bobby pin. Finish with a texturizing spray.
TWIST & KNOT
How-to: Tie your hair into a tight ponytail. With a little bit of pomade in your hands, twirl your ponytail and twist into a bun shape. Pull the end of your hair through the center of the bun to form a knot. Let the ends hang out as pictured and secure the rest with bobby-pins.
BRAID & TUCK
How-to: Lift and spray section of your hair with texturizing spray for lift and texture the gather your hair into a ponytail at the tape of your neck. Braid the ponytail and secure with another elastic. Loosen the ponytail slightly and create a hole, hold an open elastic at the hole and pull your braid up, through the hole and elastic. Again, bring your braid up and tuck it into the loop. Secure bun with a cross of pins and pull braid pieces out to shape bun.
