7 Hair Resolutions Worth Keeping

Let your new year’s resolutions be attainable this year and give yourself the gift of great hair. We want 2015 to be the year of your hair dreams, so we’ve compiled our list of rules worthy of following this year to keep your strands in lust worthy condition.

1. Take Vitamins for Hair Health

You would be surprised at how many people don’t know the extent that our hair health is tied to our physical health. Eating a healthy diet and supplementing with hair specific vitamins and minerals can do wonders not only for your hair, but for your overall sense of well being.

Particular Vitamins of Note: Folic Acid, Fulvic Acid, Biotin, Omega Oils, Vitamin E

 2. Trim Hair Every 3 Months (at least)

Taking the time to care for your self can do wonders in how you present and carry yourself to the world! A little trim here and there to keep your hair shape and maintain your style is a small commitment to looking and feeling great. Besides, the more often you trim your split ends, the less hair breakage that will occur in the long run (which means long luxurious locks are closer in the horizon).

3. Deep Condition Hair Every Week

Especially for those of us who may not be getting trims regularly. Keeping your hair properly moisturized is just like moisturizing the skin; it prevents aging and keeps strands looking young, full, healthy, and strong.

Our Favorite Deep Conditioner: Oribe Intense Conditioner

4. Use Only Quality Hair Products

…or at least quality shampoo and conditioner. With any hairstyle you want to recreate it always comes down to having the right foundation. Using poor shampoos and conditioners can destroy and damage your hair and color, making it impossible to style (no matter what other products you’re using). Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner and you’ll need less styling products and will spend less time in the salon.

We Recommend: Rene Furterer Okara Radiance Enhancing Shampoo and Conditioner

5. Keep Heat Styling to a Minimum

Constant heat styling can wreak havoc on your hair, especially if it’s done every day. Vow to cut back on the days your spending in front of your hot tools and try some hairstyles that require only wet strands and the right products. It’s less maintenance and your locks will love you.

6. If Heat Styling is a Must, Use a Heat Protector

Heat protectors can do wonders to cut back on all the damage hot irons can do to your hair. Though they may not completely combat any damage, they can reduce the amount significantly. In addition, most heat styling products cut back on blow dry time and help hair to style more efficiently [and who wouldn’t want that!?].

Our Favorites: Davines Melu Shield, Oribe Royal Blowout

7. Be More Daring With Your Look

Let 2015 be the year of trying out the styles you’ve secretly always wanted to. Celebs are already one step ahead of us with stars like Lauren Conrad, Sienna Miller, and Rosie Huntington Whiteley cutting their long manes. Don’t be afraid to try bangs, take it short, and test ride that bold color you’ve been eyeing. Just make sure that when you make a dramatic change, you do it the right way by going to an experienced professional who can customize the cut or color to suit your skin tone and face shape. Nothing’s worse than a traumatizing haircut, so do your research and have some fun with it, it’s only hair after all!
