Life is quickly getting back to normal, post-pandemic restrictions—and with that, so is our hair! Bang trends in 2021 are dominating current hair demands, and we’re here for it.
Bangs just aren’t what they used to be. These days, there’s seemingly a style for every personality and face shape.
“I think people are becoming more daring these days with styles, and one of the trends I’ve been seeing are bangs—all types of them,” celebrity hairstylist Irinel de León tells Mane Addicts. “With everyone being stuck at home for the past year, women are taking new risks with hair and trying fun hairstyles to switch things up, especially now with the spring and summer months. The good thing about bangs is they help get rid of a lot of those damaged ends and gives your strands and face a change.” Curtain bangs has been of the top trending
Below, de León—who works on everyone from Chrissy Teigen to Charli D’Amelio—breaks down three major bang trends in 2021, and what makes each so popular.
“These work really well for women because it gives your curls an entirely new shape and life,” de León says. “Be sure to see someone who specializes in curly hair or understands how to cut curls, coils or waves in their natural state to ensure you’re getting a customized cut based on your texture.”
“Shaggy bangs work well with naturally wavy hair because you can apply product and head out the door,” de León says. “Or for anyone who wants to switch things up a bit and give their hair a new modern look.”
When it comes to bang trends in 2021, “Curtain bangs are the go-to style for anyone who doesn’t want to commit to full blown bangs,” de León explains. “I love these because they look good even when you want to toss your hair up in a pony or bun. Just leave the curtain bangs out around your face and you’ve got a whole new look.”
