It’s truly a rare moment to find a collection that provides rich, long-lasting hydration for your curls. I can personally attest to this as I’ve had dry curls for most of my life with only short-lived relief after conditioning. Granted, the years of flat ironing probably didn’t help, but I digress.
Only a real winner could make me switch up my trusty routine at this point. As anyone with curly hair knows, you pretty much find what works for you and stick with it ’til the day you die. I’ve been a long-time Bread Beauty Supply gal, but then Biolage and their epic HydraSource Collection came along to shake up my entire world. If you’ve been looking for a system to really wow you with its formula and next-level hydration abilities, keep reading for my experience with the products.
The Shampoo & Conditioner
The first major blessing these products bear is that they’re formulated specifically for dry hair. The formula mimics the moisture-retaining properties of an aloe plant, leaving hair silky, balanced and easier to manage. The brand was kind enough to send me their HydraSource shampoo, conditioner, Deep Treatment Pack and even the All-in-One Coconut Infusion Treatment Spray. I didn’t have much prior experience with the brand before receiving these products, but I’d heard great things so was ready to dive right in. First, let’s talk about the shampoo and conditioner. My hair never knew what serious slip was until trying this set, TBH. And slip, is everything when you have dry curls. Even after using the shampoo alone, my hair felt coated in a heavenly sheen of moisture that didn’t make it feel under cleansed or greasy. That’s a delicate balance that isn’t easy to find in products for dry hair.
The conditioning balm didn’t disappoint, either. It left my hair feeling locked and loaded with hydration, even long after it dried. The true test of a good shampoo and conditioner is how well those moisture levels hold up post wash-day. This system passed with flying colors for me. Although my locks did lose a bit of their curl the next day, they still felt soft and weren’t too tangled.
A few times a week, I also supplemented my new routine with the HydraSource Deep Treatment Pack. As you know, dry hair usually equals more breakage, ugh. Deep conditioning is absolutely key, but it can be tricky to find one that’s long-lasting when you have brittle strands. After a few weeks of use, I noticed far fewer clumps in my brush and my strands had a little extra softness and shine to them. It was a serious win for me after experiencing a lot of breakage—can you say stress-related hair loss? The bottom line is that you at least need the Deep Treatment Pack if you aren’t into changing up your entire wash-day routine.
All-in-One Coconut Infusion Multi-Benefit Spray
The All-in-One Coconut Infusion Spray was an amazing and unexpected bonus. This multi-benefit spray really came in handy in between wash days. Although my hair retained a good amount of that magical moisture it had been craving, the spray came through. It smelled incredible fresh and gave my curls another layer of light hydration perfect for styling without water. Like I said, even if you aren’t down with changing your whole routine, even a few of these are worth it. The Deep Treatment Pack and this spray will only amplify your tried and true products.
