This influx of Latinx-owned brands has shown how incredibly important representation is within the beauty sphere, especially given how diverse the hair types within the community are. Many of the brands below came to be after their founders weren’t able to find the best products to care for their hair. So, they took matters into their own hands.
As we shift into Hispanic Heritage Month (also known as Latinx Heritage Month), there is no better time to shine a light on the plethora of incredible Latinx and Hispanic hair care brands to shop now and always. Rizos Curls is a powerhouse Latinx-owned hair care brand that truly cares about your curls. In her own words, founder Julissa Prado talked about her own curly hair challenges growing up. “Growing up, I went through many phases with my curly hair. I hid it in a tight, gelled-down ponytail, wore it à la crunchy with extra hairspray, and even straightened it with a clothes iron. As a little girl, I saved my money to buy every curl product I found but nothing ever worked,” Prado shares.
