I always struggle to find a conditioner that really gets me. I have long, straight hair that’s naturally on the dry side. On top of that, I dye my dishwasher blonde hair a brilliant shade of red, meaning I need a conditioner that really works overtime to hydrate and smooth my stressed out ends that I, for some reason, refuse to cut. Moisture is always my biggest concern, but I also don’t like it to be so hydrating that it weighs down my roots, depleting my mane of its already minimal volume. I also like to comb my conditioner through from scalp to tip which usually leaves me with a semi-greasy looking scalp, ick. I’m picky, okay. I know it. Which is why I have to tell you about my new favorite conditioner from Christophe Robin.

It’s different than your typical cream-based conditioner–a gel texture, dubbed Detangling Gelèe ($39), infused with sea minerals essential to the health of the hair. Unlike other conditioners that solely focus on hydrating the ends, this conditioner–which is meant to be used after Christophe Robin’s cult-favorite Salt Scrub–works to re-mineralize the scalp with a sea mineral cocktail of zinc, magnesium, iron, calcium, and potassium. It’s a gel that detangles hair without weighing it down, can be used as both a scalp treatment and conditioner (!!!) and benefits both oily and dry scalps.
It sounds too good to be true, but let me tell you–I was so impressed both during and after my first use. The gel texture is easy to disperse throughout the scalp and ends and slightly tingles when you put it on. I found the product super easy to comb through to the ends which I loved, and it slightly emulsifies. After rinsing, my hair felt soft and clean and air dried perfectly. My ends felt healthy, I had a little volume at the root and overall my scalp felt hydrated and balanced. The Christophe Robin Detangling Gelèe has become a staple in my hair washing routine and I haven’t used a cream based conditioner since!
