HOW-TO: Short Hair Finger Waves with Castillo
When it comes to styling short hair for the holidays, options can seem limited. Which is why we enlisted short hair guru (and Ruby Rose’s headline making hairstylist) Castillo, to walk us through chic hairstyles for this festive season; and what screams holiday hair more than finger waves? While this can seem intimidating for all your short haired ladies, the look is actually surprisingly easy to recreate. All you’ll need are some Joico hair products, a small curling iron, and duckbill clips to recreate the look.
To begin, start by spraying dry hair with Joico Ironclad Thermal Protectant Spray, then use a 3/4 inch curling iron to curl 1 inch sections of hair all in the same direction, letting the hair cool before touching.
Once strands are dry, spray more of the Joico Ironclad Thermal Protectant Spray, then use a fine tooth comb to brush out the curls and sculpt into a wave pattern, beginning at the bottom and working your way up.
Once sculpted, use duckbill clips to pin into the wave pattern, then spray with Joico Joimist Firm to hold. Let ‘set’ for several minutes, then remove the clips. Tame flyaways and add shine with Joico Power Gel, then finish with Joico Flipturn Hairspray for hold.
