9 Halloween Costumes That Are All About The Hair

Halloween is right around the corner and the pressure’s on to find the perfect mane costume. But we know that no matter how you’re dressed, your tresses come first, and the best way to stand out from the crowd is a fabulous mane! We rounded up 9 of our favorite iconic costumes that are all about that hair!

This Egyptian pharaoh is sophisticated and dramatic. Cleopatra was known for her extravagant and luxurious hair with gold literally hanging from her locks. To get the look, you’ll need a dark wig with bangs. Just create a couple tight, free hanging braids, securing with gold hair ties or adorning with beads. Complete this look with a fierce cat eye and some gold accessories!

Holly Golightly

Audrey Hepburn’s most infamous character was by far Breakfast at Tiffany’s Holly Golightly. Holly was glam from morning to night, even sleeping in her Tiffany blue and gold sequined eye mask. Dress this look up with her memorable pearl necklace, little black dress, and of course the classic french twist. Start with a low ponytail, twist upwards and secure with a hair pin! Kate Moss

Let you 90’s supermodel dreams come true by channeling the babeliest party girl we’ve all wanted to be.

For her lived in waves, use a 1 1/4 inch curling iron, take large sections and begin to curl each strand in opposite directions, adding a touch of Oribe Dry Texture Spray to the ends. Finish the look with your fav faux fur jacket and get ready to answer to ‘Kate’ all night long!

Jane Birkin

The epitome of 60’s and 70’s hair is embodied in Jane Birkin’s signature style. Windswept, piecey bangs with a natural straight wave. If you’re already rocking some bangs, this costume is a no brainer. For all you other girls, just add in some clip in bangs. Pair with your favorite turtleneck and high waisted jeans.

For Sade’s sleek, glossy pony attach an ultra long ponytail extension. To achieve that glossed over shine, spray Moroccan Oil Glimmer shine from roots to ends and distribute the product with a smoothing boar bristle brush. Split your pony into two sections and twist each section in opposite directions, securing with an elastic at the ends. Pop on some gold hoops and a red lip and get ready for some Karaoke.

Diana Ross

Forever a mane muse, Diana Ross has always embraced her voluminous curls. To get that big 80’s hair, use a crimping iron throughout your entire head, and start backcombing! Create a textured curl by adding in some R+CO Badlands dry shampoo paste, work though your fingers and rub it into random hair strands. For added drama wear the most glamorous gown you can find and throw and grab a boa!

Marcia Brady

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia… yeah we’re pretty obsessed with her too! Because her style is so simple, it makes this look the perfect last minute costume. Create a middle part and flat iron almost every piece of hair, Marcia always had the perfect undone pieces mixed into her straight style. Spray through some shine spray for a natural, healthy finish. Style with a mini skirt and collared sweater for Marcia’s signature look!

The sex symbol of the 50’s and 60’s, and ultimate bombshell, Brigitte Bardot is the seductress we all want to be. Start with the most voluminous blowout of all time, but separate a triangular section of the bangs at the front and blowdry flat and forward, with a twist at the ends with your round brush. Take a parting at the crown and backcomb in horizontal sections, smooth over the top and pin to secure! To complete the look throw on something casual like a neutral cashmere sweater.

Beyonce Hair Flip

If you’re going as Queen Bey, you have a huge variety of styles to choose from. Destiny’s Child Beyonce, Drunk in Love, Single Ladies, the list goes on… But the one thing that has always stayed consistent in Beyonce’s style is her fierce mane. Start with a middle or deep side part, and create two or three sections for control. Begin by curling with a 1 inch curling iron or wand and curl every section away from the face, never taking sections bigger than 1 inch. Repeat this throughout every section, after 10-30 minutes of letting the curls cool, finish by brushing all sections together with a smoothing boar bristle brush. Now style with any Bey approved outfit, and enjoy being the Queen for a night!
