With school back in session and fashion week kicking off, it’s only appropriate that we give you quick and easy style options for your mane; which is why we love the fishtail braid. This side variation shows off your length, hides a bad hair day, and has tons of movement and texture, looking equally effortless and fashion savvy. Mane Master Clariss Rubenstein walks us through getting the look.
BEFORE
Start on dry strands. Second or third day hair is great for the added texture.
STEP 1
Gather hair over one shoulder and split into two sections. Lets call them section 1 and section 2.
STEP 2
Begin a fishtail braid by taking a small piece from the outside of section 1 and adding to section 2. Then take a small piece from the outside of section 2 and add to section 1. Continue in this pattern down the length of the hair.
If you need a refresher, look here.
Continue with this pattern, letting any loose pieces fall free.
STEP 3
When you get to the ends, secure with a hair elastic.
STEP 4
Spray with Bumble and bumble Does It All Styling Spray for hold.
STEP 5
Use your fingers to loosen the edges of the braid by pinching and pulling on the outer pieces.
