It’s pretty much an indisputable fact that Hailey Bieber’s hair is practically perfect.
I’ve spent hours and hours analyzing her expertly effortless waves, making only educated guesses as to how she nails that lived in look. We know she has a team of the world’s best glam – hello, our Editor in Chief Jen Atkin is on her speed dial. However the supermodel is actually quite keen on styling her own hair for everyday events like dinners and days out with the hubby. Luckily, there’s no more need for guesswork folks – the model took to her new Youtube channel to breakdown her personal wavy hair routine. And you know what? It’s actually so simple.
So, naturally, I tried it out for myself. Read on to find out just how I nailed Hailey Bieber’s beachy waves.
Texturizing Spray Is the Key
The secret to Hailey’s strands is all in the prep work. She starts with freshly washed strands and adds a bit of thickening spray before blowing them out. Her product of choice? Ouai’s classic Volume Spray. Hailey has silky, straight strands. Luckily I do too, so this technique worked really well for me.
After blowing out her strands, Hailey gives her tresses a little bit of grit with a good old fashioned texturizing spray. This is a unique preparatory step – most people add a spritz at the end, rather than the beginning, of the styling process. According to Hailey, this gives her hair a little more hold, a little more of that lived in aesthetic. I couldn’t agree more, the pre-styling texturizing base helped my hair hold the wave.
As far as products go, we recommend IGK’s Beach Club Texturizing Spray. Its lightweight but ultra effective, great at getting that bed head kind of texture.
All About the S Wave
Now for the styling. To get a simple, all-over wave, Hailey uses Dyson’s iconic Corrale Hair Straightener. She sections into roughly three layers, starting with the bottom most layer and clipping up the rest. Her technique is pretty easy – she takes a section of hair and waves using an “S” motion. It’s important not to clamp on too tight to avoid harsh creases in the hair. This technique is super effective, but it takes a little time to master the motion. Once you nail it though, natural-looking waves are all yours.
To finish it all off, she hits her hair with a little more texturizing spray and a soft-hold hair spray. Hailey likes to use a little dry shampoo at the roots as well, to make this style last a little longer. The result is a truly touchable set of fabulous waves!
