One of the best things about this gorgeous recipe book is how simple but sumptuous each entry is. Specifically designed with common household ingredients in mind, this DIY guide takes the stress of shopping out of the equation.
The Sunday Night Hair Mask is the ultimate end-of-the-week reparative treatment for your mane. So naturally the ingredients are super hydrating and scented to sooth. A blend of rich oils is the key to this moisturizing mask: almond, avocado and virgin coconut oil to be exact. These luxurious ingredients penetrate each strand, delivering some much needed TLC to your tired tresses. But the relaxation doesn’t stop there. The recipe also calls for a blend of rosemary, cedarwood, and peppermint oils, for a calming spa-like aroma.
2 teaspoons Sweet Almond Oil
2 teaspoons Avocado Oil
2 teaspoons organic solid virgin coconut oil
10 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
5 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
2 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
With a low-fi list of ingredients, this calming hair mask takes just a few minutes to mix. Using a small bowl and a whisk, I blended each ingredient together in a breeze! Application is also easy– simply start at the roots and massage this restorative formula through each strand and down to the ends. Comb through and pin in place once the entire mask is applied. Now for the fun part: kick back, relax, and let this detox work its magic.
The suggested ratio was more than enough for my mid-length strands, but those with longer locks or an ultra-thick mane may want to double up. Oh, and definitely recommend you place a towel of your shoulders to catch any excess oil (learned that the hard way!)
Bottom line: this Sunday Night Hair Mask was the highlight of my week. The cooling scent profile and luxurious oil compound immediately melted the stress of the week away. After just 45 minutes of soaking my strands, this moisturizing mask completely transformed my tresses. A quick wash and a blowdry later, and the effects were emphasized: my mane was gorgeous and glossy, ready for another new Monday.
