The other day on Instagram, I asked our followers how they achieve the perfect air-dried waves, and they came through, again. Looking for a new naturally wavy hair routine or feel like fortifying yours? Click through the gallery below to borrow a tried-and-tested routine, including product and tool suggestions, from loyal Mane Addicts themselves.
Coming from straight hair—wash/condition, then rub Bumble and bumble Volumizing Pomade at roots and ends. Comb OUAI Wave Spray through mid-shafts. Then make a thick French braid starting high up on the scalp, and sleep in it! Volume, texture and tight waves for a whole day.
I only condition it, let it air dry until it isn’t soaking anymore, then use Aussie Sprunch Wave Spray.
I just put some L’Oréal Mousse in my hair, spray some IGK Thirsty Girl Coconut Milk Leave-In Conditioner, put some Oribe Moisturizing Cream, and some Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil at the ends. I blow dry my hair with a round brush and then I curl my hair and clip the curl up to let it cool. Then I brush out the curls with a wide-tooth comb and hair spray my hair.
Wash with your favourite curl enhancing shampoo. Then use Kerastraight Protein Mask as conditioner for extra hydration, brush through with a wide-tooth comb, work from tips to roots, leave on for five minutes, and rinse well. Use Kerastase Oleo Curl Creme and/or Mousse and twist hair. Once you’ve twisted the whole head, spritz Sassoon Halo Hydrate all over for extra hydration. Wrap your hair back into the towel and leave overnight or leave to dry naturally. Add OUAI Rose Hair & Body Oil once your hair is dry for shine and extra moisture. Voila!!
Camellia oil and air drying.
Olaplex Shampoo and Conditioner, wide-tooth COMB with conditioner (scrunch conditioner in) then let sit!!! Rinse out with cool water and do NOT comb or run fingers through after. 2. Use a microfiber towel (DevaCurl Microfiber Towel) to scrunch excess water!!! 3. Use a hydrating curl definer. I go for Oribe Curl Shaping Mousse and Evo Liquid Rollers. Scrunch these in (don’t be scared of too much mousse) 4. To give beachy texture, I like Evo Salty Dog or Kevin Murphy Hair Resort (the cream, not spray). Scrunch this in. 5. In between each application scrunch with Deva Towel!!! 6. Flip head over and diffuse on low speed high heat. The tighter you hold the diffuser to your head, the curlier you will get!!! For thick, frizzy hair, dry to 80%. For finer hair like me, I dry completely. Cool shot diffuse after!!! 7. Apply hair powder of choice at the crown for volume and to not turn into a triangle curl head. 8. Spray in some Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray for beachy shine separation and light texture!!! 9. Sunglasses
Wash and towel dry then spray Bumble and bumble Prep Primer. Use a wide-tooth comb! Run Oribe Tousled Texture Mousse from roots to ends let air dry a bit. Next I put Bumble and bumble Curl Defining Creme on hands and twist some hair with my fingers to make more uniform then open a bottle of 🍾 have a glass🍷 or two till hair is dry then spray Bumble and bumble’s Dry Shine!
Wash my hair just with shampoo, towel dry and then I apply just a little bit of Argan oil on the tips. I blow dry the front part of my hair and then divide my hair in half and then each half into three parts. I twist each of those parts and blow dry it until dry. Here’s the trick—when each curl starts to dry, I brush it to eliminate frizz and to also have a softer wave. Then I brush my hair, and fix with my flat iron the pieces of hair that are not that pretty. 💁🏼♀️ 🌊 That’s how I fix my mane😍 People seem to like it, they compliment my hair quite often❤️
Mine is a bit different and totally natural lol. I use coconut milk with rosemary and lavender essential oil. I soak my hair with a.k.a the potion. Leave it on for 30 minutes. I don’t use a shampoo, but a shampoo bar. Trust me, it has brought way more natural curls than any styling product. (NO OFFENSE OUAI, but your products aren’t available in India.😋) and yeah, I rinse my hair with rosemary concoction to work it up as a conditioner. Voila, my natural textured curls are lit.🙌💯🔥
Finger comb conditioner in shower, rinse and then leave it. For my best curl, I never brush my hair once I’ve finger combed it. Towel dry by squeezing the hair, NOT rubbing it. I mix OUAI Finishing Creme with Eleven Miracle Treatment, and squeeze the product into the hair. Then part and place hair where I want it to dry and be for the rest of the day. Wait till it has completely air dried, then if I need more volume, I spray sea salt or OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray only at roots and rub into scalp to add lift. If I want more body all over, I flip my head over and spray texture spray on the hair. This way I’m not touching my top layer and making it frizzy. The best tip of all is to minimise the amount you touch your hair. Be patient and wait for each step.
I wash with Kerastase Nutritive Bain Magistral Shampoo and Fondant Magistral Rinse, mask with L’Oreal Serie Expert Intense repair, flip head over in shower, detangle with a wide-tooth comb and rinse with cold water. Towel dry without rubbing hair, apply a few pumps of L’Oreal Mythic Oil to mid shaft and ends, and wrap head in towel until dry (usually overnight). Flip head back and forth and lightly shake out. Finish with another pump of OUAI Hair Oil for shine and extra hydration (yes, my hair is that dry) thankfully only two times a week. Lastly, I wrap a few pieces around an iron to “polish.”
