On the whole, 2016 was a very memorable year in beauty. With the continued rise of social media combined with our see-now buy-now attitudes, our kit bags and bathroom counters are – more than ever before – stocked with new, up and coming brands and products that have (with the help of veteran stylist founders) been gaining popularity and serious creditability in the industry. While, re-reading through everything written on MA this year, we realized that a lot of our most mentioned products are from brands that are still growing their product lines, who knows what we will be in love with next year! Don’t know what we mean? Scroll through our list of this year’s most mentioned products and find out for yourself. And remember, if you haven’t tried any of these, they are all on the top of recommendation list.
THE BEACHWAVER PRO
An easy favorite and certified cult product, Sarah Potempa’s Beachwaver will turn you into a VS angel in no-time.
CHRISTOPHE ROBIN SEA SALT SCRUB
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; this product is a MUST HAVE for a thorough cleanse and should be in everyone’s shower.
ORIBE DRY TEXTURZING SPRAY
The easiest way to achieve this year’s trendy volume and texture is this boosting texturizing spray. The scent is heavenly on it’s own as well.
MASON PEARSON BRUSH
A cult favorite that makes paying over $100 for a hairbrush seem absolutely reasonable.
KLORANE DRY SHAMPOO
This brand is slowly making it’s way over from French pharmacies and we LOVE it. It blends seamlessly and soaks up oil in seconds.
DEVACURL ONE CONDITION
Curly hair was everything this year and anyone with serious curls turned to DevaCurl for their washing needs.
OUAI WAVE SPRAY
Launched in February by our CEO Jen, OUAI (and in particular, this wave spray) rose quickly through the ranks and into our hearts. I can’t wait to see what they come out with next year.
BURTON KIT BAG
A lot of our What’s In The Bag features rave about their Burton bags for all their storage and kit organization needs.
IGK RICH KID COCONUT OIL GEL
We loved this unique product from another new brand; IGK. The Gel smells amazing and is the perfect combination of hydration and hold.
Y.S. PARK TEASING COMB
You can’t create ‘I woke up like this’ volume with a solid teasing brush like this one.
RITA HAZAN ROOT CONCEALER
If you needed a volume boost this year or rocked a scalp exposing braid style, you probably reached for Rita Hazan’s Root Concealer. We don’t blame you.
HARRY JOSH PRO DRYER
And last but not least, everyone’s favorite teal tool; the Harry Josh Pro Dryer.
