Lily Allen has proven no stranger to the world of technicolor hair. This year she’s embraced everything from pale pink, bold purples, light blue, and lavender. Though it’s hard to shock us at Mane Addicts, but we were pleasantly surprised to see Lily Allen’s new vibrant techni-color created by Allen’s longtime hair stylist Alex Brownsell. Allen referred to her color as “watermelon” on her Instagram earlier this week, a bold change in anticipation of her 30th birthday.
Pravana Artistic Color Director Vadre Grigsby notes, “Creative color isn’t reserved for those under the age of 30. If Dame Helen Mirren can walk a red carpet with pink hair, anyone can.” If you’re thinking about going colorful but have hesitations, regardless of your age, start slowly with pastels. “ChromaSilk Vivids Pastels come in a variety of shades and can be blended to look as bright or as muted as you prefer,” adds Grigsby. “Plus, they fade beautifully, so it’ll look soft and subtle. If you want to go bright and bold, try something with less contrast. Think purple for brunettes, pink for blondes. But always remember: it’s your hair and hair color is an art form, so feel free to express yourself however you choose, whether you’re 20, 30 or 60.”
