Let’s hear it for the boys! Men’s Fashion Week SS17 boasted bold 70’s prints, summer-inspired salty strands, and the effortlessly romantic man manes that dreams are made of. Keep scrolling for our fave looks from the week, and to find out which looks you need to know were best-in-show…
Orley X Jordan M X 70’s Waves
Orley’s SS17 collection experimented with their signature knits, infusing the looks with a nostalgic, seventies vibe. No surprise those vibes can be seen in the men’s manes! On his inspiration for the style, Bumble and bumble key hairstylist Jordan M said, “We wanted the guys to have fresh-out-of-the-shower hair. We took some volume out and gave the guys a flat wave on the ends, keeping it effortless and playing off their interesting haircuts.”
To recreate the effortless look, spray hair with Tonic Lotion to defuse and combat humidity with Pret-a-powder to absorb sweat and grease.
Chapter X Christian Ceja-Compin X The Romeo
Chaos meets harmony in the looks for Chapter’s latest collection, which was heavily influenced by 90’s culture and the cinematography of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet. Key hairstylist Christian Ceja-Compin for Oribe Hair Care paired the refined collection with romantic Romeo hair perfectly suited for this nostalgic presentation.
To get the look, spray Foundation Mist all over and then flatiron to create the LA bend. Finish the sultry style with Dry Texturizing Spray.
David Hart X Kien Hoang X Beachy Bedhead
Surfer meets the seventies in David Hart’s bold and bright SS17 collection. Oribe Educator and key hairstylist Kien Hoang has been working with the designer for seven seasons now so their collabs are more than a little in sync! Kien kept the hair looking lived-in, and accentuated a slightly greasy, beachy bedhead look.
To recreate these windswept strands, enhance natural texture with Gold Lust Oil and use your fingers to style natural-looking waves. Spray Dry Texturizing Spray at the root, and for the finishing touch, use Apres Beach Wave and Shine spray to create that “lived-in look.”
John Varvatos X Yannic d’Is X Rock ‘N Roll Romance
Closing out NYFW with a collection aptly named, “The Urban Romantic,” the hair at John Varvatos was inspired by our two favorite things, romance and rock ‘n roll! On the look, lead stylist from Bumble and bumble, Yannick d’Is said, “We want luxury and not grungy.”
To get the look, d’Is explained how important it is to start with clean hair. The models were shampooed, the manes were saturated with Bb. Prep, and then blow-dried and curled to perfection for a polished bend. Spray with Dryspun Finish to complete this sexy style.
