If you’re anything like us, you’ve seen and envied the way Rose Byrne is constantly showing off the versatility of her bob. Whether sleek, sculpted, messy, or coiffed, her hair always looks fresh and modern, especially at last night’s Tony awards! We reached out to her hairstylist, Harry Josh, who explained how he got 4 different looks on her hair.

If you’re stuck in a short hair rut- this is the post for you!

LOOK 1: VINTAGE WAVES

  1. Prep damp hair with mousse all over.
  2. Using a small one inch curling iron, wrap the hair vertically in same direction away from face on both sides.
  3. After hair cools use a Harry Josh blow dryer and a round brush to pull the tight ringlets out then pull wider. Use duck bill clips to set strands in place and mist with hairspray.
  4. Remove clips and use a smoothing cream to finish.

LOOK 2:  SCULPTED WAVES

  1. Prep damp hair with mousse all over and use a volumizer at roots.
  2. Set velcro rollers on the top mohawk area, then roughly dry the rest of hair.
  3. Using a small one inch curling iron, wrap the hair vertically in same direction away from face on both sides.
  4. Once all curling is done, pull out the rollers and put in your side part.
  5. Curl the remaining hair.
  6. After hair cools use a  blow dryer and a round brush to pull the tight ringlets out then pull wider
  7. Finish with hair spray.

LOOK 3: ULTRA SLEEK

  1. Wash and prep hair with anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner.
  2. Apply few pumps of frizz-ease primer to entire head.
  3. Put in an extreme side part and blow dry hair with the ionic setting of your Harry Josh blowdryer. Direct hair downwards with an oval styling brush or Mason Pearson brush.
  4. Lastly, go over dry hair with a flat iron for a high gloss finish.

LOOK 4: MESSY WAVES

  1. On wet hair, apply surf spray and diffuse the whole head until bone dry
  2. Then, haphazardly grab sections and wrap them around a 1 inch curling iron.
  3. When you take the curl out, pull it straight (when still hot) so it creates just a bend or flick, not a curl. Do this around the whole head, then shake out with fingers.
  4. Finish with hair spray.
