As an international model and personality, Adrianne Ho, the half French half Chinese Toronto native, has a fresh, unique look and modern approach to health and fitness. Having been tapped by Nike, Stussy, and Levi’s among countless other fitness and swim brands, she has created a remarkable niche of fitness-chic. With a busy schedule traveling worldwide and dividing her home between NY and LA, Adrianne quickly realized the importance of health and how hard it is to live an organic, sustainable, and fitness lifestyle while on the road. In attempts to solve the problem, Adrianne created Sweat the Style, a brand devoted to fashionable fitness, natural beauty, positive health, and real food.
We teamed up with Adrianne and Mane Master Nikki Providence to create athleisure hairstyles for the girl on the go. Perfect from the gym, straight to dinner, Adrianne gave us a fresh perspective on gym hair. So keep reading to find a major blend of fitness #manespiration.
“Adrianne is so strong so I wanted to make sure her hair not only highlighted her bone structure, but was also tight enough to look as strong as she is,” explains Nikki. “She has that natural curl so I loved leaving the pieces out to kind of let her texture still live in the hairstyle.”
“So the first look was the high, tight fishtail. It’s really important to get it really tight and straight, so I used water and Toni and Guy After Party to pull it tight. For the braid I used a mask called Free Your Mane. I use it a lot as a braiding cream.”
Take a note from Nikki if you’re hitting the gym and prep your tresses with a hydrating mask before a sweat sesh. The heat from your workout will hydrate your strands and protect against the drying salt from sweat damaging the hair.
Put a twist on the plain old top knot by doubling it up and playing with asymmetrical variations. In this look, Nikki created two double knots at the top section of hair, leaving the bottom half free.
Again, prep hair with a mask to create texture, hold, and hydration before styling. This is perfect for a sun worshipping beach workout or day in the sand as the mask creates a protective barrier from the environment. Added bonus? A quick dip in the ocean will only make the style better.
Nikki’s tips for perfect cornrows? “Make sure the parts are really clean. Come up with the pattern before you start, then add hair to make sure that they are really thick and substantial.”
