There was something for everyone backstage at Alice and Olivia, where lead hair stylist Justine Marjan created three separate looks. Though clearly different styles, all were cohesive, bohemian — and perfect for Coachella. Ladies, take notes now! “We’re doing really boho, feminine, rich, hippie-inspired hair,” Justine explains. The three looks consisted of a sleek and smooth low ponytail, a half-up layered braided style with lavender inserted throughout, and loose double reverse French braids with pearl and rhinestones integrated throughout.
Pearl & Rhinestone Braids
For the pearl-braided look, Justine preps the hair by misting TRESemmé Between Washes Style Refresh All-in-1 Spray all over from roots to ends, spraying evenly to avoid stickiness. She then separates the hair into two even sections, creating a clean center-part. Justin creates two low reverse French braids on either side, braiding over the ears and securing with an elastic. She uses her fingers and pulls each braid apart for a loose, undone feel using TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Hold Level 4: Extend. She then adds in stick on self-adhesive pearl and diamond stickers (found at a local craft store) from the crown to the roots, playing with her placements. To lock the style down, she reinforces the braids with another shot of hairspray.

Half-up Layered with Lavender
To create this super chill braided look, which is also a much needed update on the flower crown (also who could be stressed when there’s actual lavender in your hair?) Justine preps with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Hold Level 1: Texture to create the perfect foundation before she goes in with hot tools. She alternates between creating push waves using the ghd Platinum + Styler flatiron and curls, with the ghd Curve Classic Curl Iron. She creates mini braids in both sides of the hair for a face-framing effect, and then joins both at the back of the head, pinning them down. She then braids the down hair, and mists with the TRESemmé Between Washes Style Dry Shampoo, for even more texture. She makes sure the braids aren’t too tight, so they can support the lavender that is weaved throughout. Justine finishes with the TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Hold Level 4: Extend to lock the look into place.

Smooth Low Pony
To begin the sleek low pony look, Justine spritzes TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protectant Spray on damp hair, drying with the ghd Air Dryer for a smooth foundation. She then preps the dry hair with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Hold Level 2: Smooth, brushing it through. She goes in wth the ghd Platinum + Styler, flat ironing the hair in sections to achieve the ultra sleek look. She creates a clean center part, brushing back the sectioned hair that is right below the curve of the neck and secures with an elastic. Justine then releases the leftover clipped section of hair, merging it into the pony and brushes it all back. She secures with another elastic and then finishes with the TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Hold Level 4: Extend.
