This Handheld Hair Steamer Is Like a Facial for Your Strands

If you’ve ever had a facial you know that steam has some serious healing powers. Even before lotions get slathered or extractions begin, the steam itself is enough to open your pores, allowing moisture to penetrate the skin. Well, it turns out, this same principle applies to the hair, and is especially beneficial for those with natural and curly tresses. As someone forever on the quest for the perfect curls, I decided to try the Q-Redew Hair Steamer and give my locks much-needed hydration.

About the Q-Redew Hair Steamer

The Q-Redew Hair Steamer is basically a handheld hair facial. It opens the hair’s cuticle allowing the moisture from the steam to freshen up curls. It’s also super easy to use. All you do is fill up the water reservoir with preferably distilled water (though I take my chances with NYC tap) plug it in, and after a few flashes of red light, the steamer is ready to go. How you use the steamer is up to you, and there really are no limitations to this. For anyone who is committed enough to curl slayage to use rollers, going over them with the Q-Redew will definitely solidify the spiral shape of your ringlets.

My Q-Redew Hair Steamer Review

I watch a tutorial before starting my steaming process, but the device is user-friendly enough that you kind of already know what to do. Before steaming, I generously apply one of my favorite oils, DevaCurl High Shine Multi-Benefit Hair Oil which is lightweight and made specifically for curly hair, and begin running it over my strands.

Q-Redew Hair Steamer Review

You can concentrate the vapor in certain areas or consistently apply it throughout, either way the curls are given a boost through the handheld personal sauna. The Q-Redew Hair Steamer is the anti-heat styling device that thirsty hair desperately needs. If you’re addicted to your diffuser or curling iron, take a break. What your hair really needs is for moisture to penetrate the cuticle instead of being depleted out of it. That being said, I’m team hair steamer, which I feel is the perfect hydrophilic heat antidote to water-killing hot tools.

I got a full-blown hair facial—HERE’s what went down.
