Here’s What Happened When I Tried a CBD Shampoo for the First Time

There’s seemingly a CBD solution to everything these days, so hair should be no exception.

When I received a press release for RAINCRY’s new CBD Repair Collection, I was immediately intrigued. I wasn’t formerly familiar with specific CBD hair products, so this naturally grabbed my attention. Sold at Neiman Marcus and formulated with advanced Plant Stem Cell technology and 300mg of pure CBD Oil in each product, it sounded like just the luxe line to get my color-treated, heavily heat-damaged hair into tip-top shape.

I reached out to the brand about reviewing their Regenerating Shampoo ($35), and they graciously shipped me a bottle stat! The full set also comes with Repairing Conditioner ($38) and Rebuild Bond Repair leave-in treatment ($38).

Upon arrival, I was immediately taken by the packaging. The actual shampoo tube itself came in a brightly-colored cardboard tub, and the product’s pastel green hue immediately caught my eye. We’d have quite the journey ahead, as my hair (as mentioned above) is quite damaged. Granted, I recently got a keratin treatment, which always helps tremendously—but there’s no denying my split ends. Also, I have very thick, course hair (which I’m not complaining about, but it’s harder to manage).

Once I got into the shower, I gave myself two solid shampoo rinses and let my hair air dry overnight. When I woke up, it was a little (expectedly) frizzy, but very soft. Then came the styling. As mentioned, I do have thick hair, so flat ironing will always be a process, but as I pulled my tool through, I noticed shiny, beautiful strands. After about 20 minutes, my hair was flat. Of course, it was day one, so naturally my hair frizzed and curled out shortly after I left the house, but that’s pretty standard on the first day I do my hair. It still looked pretty good though, and brought out the vibrancy of my burgundy highlights (as seen below).

I’m pretty confident that tomorrow will be an even better day for my hair once I re-straighten it. As for this very moment, I’m currently putting my hands through it and have truly never felt softer strands. It’s also calmed down a bit since earlier in the day. While I can’t say for sure if it’s the shampoo’s ingredients or simply that I haven’t tried this shampoo prior, I will say that I’m insanely pleased with the results. My mane is difficult to maintain, so anything that can get me close is commendable. I’d certainly recommend this product to anyone with my hair type. It really does feel good as new.

It’s also important to note that each RAINCRY repair system product is pH Balanced, paraben-free, sulphate-free, phthalate-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, THC-free, color safe and Keratin treatment safe.
