This $8 Scalp Exfoliator Leaves My Scalp Feeling Brand New After Every Use

When Mindy McKnight expanded her line of Hairitage products at Walmart, I was lucky enough try them out. Little did I know I would fall head over heels for one product in particular: the Restart Button Scalp Exfoliator.

Scalp care has become an increased priority for me, as my time at home has highlighted how little attention I paid to it. I began using massagers and scrubs to really treat my scalp the way it needed to be treated. But nothing refreshed my scalp quite like this exfoliator.

Hairtage Restart Button Scalp Exfoliator: $7.49

Retailed at $7.94, you get more than you bargained for with this product. Not only is it a steal when it comes to price, it’s also SLS & SLES-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, mineral oil-free, cruelty-free, color safe, and vegan. How rare it is to find a product that delivers all this while still being affordable.

One of the key ingredients is apricot seed powder, which moisturizes the scalp and increases hydration. Let me tell you, it also smells amazing. It’s a sweet aroma, though not too overpowering on the senses.

My favorite part of the product is the scrubbing applicator. Having it attached to the same bottle the product is in makes things so incredibly easy, especially for a lazy girl like me. Because of its design, the applicator can really penetrate your scalp to lift dirt, impurities, and buildup.

The first time I used it, I was worried the scrubbing applicator would be too intense for my straight strands and sensitive scalp. Those fears flew out the window the second I used it. The brush didn’t pull, tug, or feel the least bit damaging.

Using it was easy, too. Before I used shampoo, I would squeeze the product on my sectioned strands and go to work with the applicator for a few minutes. Then I rinsed it out and followed my normal haircare routine.

The Restart Button Scalp Exfoliator from Hairitage was the perfect restart for my scalp. And, it continues to work its magic each time I use it. If I had to use it more often I would. Thankfully, I don’t.

The time spent between my wash days has been prolonged thanks to this product. I was washing my hair every other day before using this product, because my strands were oily and had so much dry shampoo buildup lingering on them. Now, I can wash my tresses every three days, sometimes even four, depending on how much dry shampoo I use.
