7 Styling Trends We’re Leaving Behind in 2021

2021 is in full swing, and we’re kicking off the new year with a little trend review.

Even with months of social distancing and staying at home, 2020 managed to spring up a few stylish mane moments. But alas, all good things must come to an end. We’re making way for a whole host of new 2021 trends. This year’s vibe is minimalist af. We’re saying hello to all-over hair color, paired-down accessories, and lived-in locks. And sadly, that means we’re also saying goodbye to a few of last year’s fan favorite aesthetics.

Find out which 2020 trends are getting tossed out in 2021.

1. Sleek AF Manes

We love a super slick style as much as the next Mane Addict. But it looks like 2021 has more social distancing and work-from-home-ing in store for the foreseeable future. So undone twists and tresses are much more the vibe.

2. The Half Updo

Sorry but this ‘do has been done to death. The half-up bun was 2020’s staple stay-at-home style, but it’s a little bit boring for the post-2020 era. Buns, ponytails, braids– that’s the new go-to.

3. Turned-Out Tresses

Retro mane moments were big in 2020. And while we’ll be keeping turned in bobs and lots of layers, we’ll be saying goodbye to flipped out strands. We’re opting for a more natural aesthetic in the new year.

4. Blunt Bangs

Quarantine bangs will have to sit this year out. Curtain bangs, shaggy fringe, face-framing pieces are much more the move for the 2021 grow-out phase.

5. Blinged-Out Accessories

Simplicity is the name of the game in the new year. Big, bold, bright barrettes and baubles are over for 2021. We’ll be reaching for minimalist clips and effortless scrunchies instead.

6. Classic Blonde Balayage

Classic blonde balayage is kind of timeless, but we’re looking for something little more muted in 2021. This year we’ll be going all in on all-over tones and warm blended lowlights.

7. Pink Hair

Pink hair has had it’s moment in the sun for quite sometime- time for a little change. This year’s neon hues will come in blues and purples instead.
