When we saw the half wet, half sculpted, part messy, part clean look editorial stylist Jimmy Paul created on Axel Lindhahl for W Mag, we knew this would be our summer pool look and we needed to know how to recreate it. The sculpted front piece is what really defines the image, creating a uniquely modern style with a vintage twist. Jimmy tells W Mag, “An artistically placed piece of hair always completes a look…It’s as much of a statement as say, bangs or fringe, but without the commitment. When I assisted [the legendary hairstylist] Danilo, he called it a ‘honey bang.’ I love that.”
1. “On damp hair, make a deep side part. Apply mousse or Bumble and bumble thickening hairspray.
2. Rough dry to get a good natural texture.
3. Take a 2 inch section in the front and apply Bumble and bumble gel just in the front, do a quick but flattering finger wave, securing with a bobby pin.
NOTE: Use gel just in the front, keeping the back dry.”
