HOW-TO: The Perfect Ponytail

ponytail, howto, clariss rubenstein,

The perfect ponytail comes in all shapes and sizes; and with festival season upon us, it’s an immediate go-to for chic in the sun.  With our everyday goal to achieve great hair in quick and easy ways, we thought you might have fun with this how-to. Hairstylist Clariss Anya Rubenstein walks us through creating the perfect pony at home, stating, “I absolutely love the look of a ponytail. It is so chic. It’s a great style that can be paired with almost any look if done right!”

STEP 1: To get the look you’ll start by curling your strands with a curling wand.  If you’re naturally curly, embrace your waves and skip to the next step!

STEP 2: Use a backcombing brush to tease at the roots for volume.

STEP 3: Gather hair into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic.

STEP 4: Take a small section of hair and braid it.  When you’ve reached the end wrap around the ponytail holder/base of the ponytail, and secure with 2 criss-crossed bobby pins.

PRO TIP: If needed use a matte wax to tame any baby hairs.

STEP 5: Finish with a texture spray for added oomph and definition. (Clariss suggests Unite Texturiza Spray)
