We Pledge Allegiance to These 2021 Met Gala Beauty Looks

The Met Gala is our Super Bowl, but not for the fashion—oh no. We watch for the hair and makeup moments to see which looks we can recreate ourselves and discover the trends we’ll see trickling down to the masses. This year’s Met Gala theme was In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. Admittedly, we weren’t sure what to expect. Would we see nods to the ’50s and ’60s? Or would everyone show up in Old Navy, the most iconic American clothing label? We stand by what we said. Anyway, the hairstyles from this year’s carpet made us proud to be American. Scroll below for the best Met Gala 2021 hair looks!

Amanda Gorman

Inspired by the Statue of Liberty, poet Amanda Gorman looks simply divine in this ensemble. What we love most is the braided ponytail cascading out of the top of her head surrounded by a leafy crown by Jennifer Behr.

We know we said Dan Levy really got the theme right, but so did Ciara. What’s more American than football? And she made it fashionable? Give her all the awards, just for her voluminous low-ponytail alone.

And ending our roundup of the best Met Gala hair looks, we have none other than the legend, icon, and star herself, Rihanna. She, of course, showed up fashionably late (emphasis on the late and fashionably). She went glam and cozy, which screams American fashion.
