The smell of weed is quite intoxicating, in more ways than one. Though even if you’re a fan of the aroma, it does have the tendency to overstay its welcome. That’s especially true when it comes to your mane. The odor can remain on your strands long after your last smoke sesh. So if you’re wondering how to get the smell of weed out of your hair once and for all, you’ve come to the right place. Scroll below for five ways to banish the scent for good!

Let It Down

If your hair was up for your smoke sesh, take it down and flip it around. And if it was down, you’d still benefit from flipping it around. This will allow some fresh air to work its way through your strands, ridding them of the smell of weed. However, this method will take some time—approximately an hour, give or take. Just something to be mindful of if you’re in a pinch to get rid of the stench.

Step Into the Sun

Another simple way to get the smell of weed out of your hair is to soak up the sun, just like Sheryl Crow would want. Again, make sure your hair is down so fresh air can flow through. You should spend 30 to 45 minutes under the sun’s rays to neutralize the weed odor. Once your time is up, you should be good to go and the weed scent should be gone from your hair.

Try a Deodorizer

For a quick fix, try a hair deodorizer. This can be an actual deodorizer or even hair perfume, hairspray, or scented dry shampoo. Spritzing these onto your strands should get the smell out almost instantly. You can even run a dryer sheet through your tresses if you don’t have any of the deodorizers listed.

Wash With a Strong Shampoo

Have a little more time to get the smell of weed out of your hair? Try washing your strands with a strong shampoo. One that contains apple cider vinegar, baking soda, or white vinegar will work wonders, as they’re all great at neutralizing unwanted odors. You can make your own concoction or buy shampoo from the store.

Utilize Vodka

Alcohol and weed aren’t always the best combination, but it turns out vodka is great at removing the smell of weed from the hair. We recommend you try this as a last ditch effort if none of the above methods work. Spritz a teaspoon of vodka onto your hair, let it dry, and notice the weed odor dissipate.
